Stade Rennais sporting director Florian Maurice talked to RMC Sport and confirmed that young midfielder Eduardo Camavinga will stay with them for another season, even though there were reports this spring suggesting that Real Madrid were going to complete a move for him.
“We have not discussed Camavinga’s departure, there never was a real interest for him. Since I got here I knew what we were going to do with him in our project. What happens if Real Madrid offer €80 million? Our answer will be ‘no’. We want to keep him around so that he can continue to develop in Stade Rennais,” said Maurice.
The French club clinched their presence in the 2020-2021 edition of the Champions League and that appeared to confirm Camavinga’s future. Real Madrid will need to wait another season to sign the promising midfielder and that could make things tougher for them if Camavinga keeps performing at a high level.
