Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane addressed the media right after the 2-0 win against Alaves, a solid win which allowed Los Blancos to keep their current four-point lead over Barcelona with just three games until the end of the season.

“We’re happy with the streak we’re carrying and we’ll keep working to reach our goal. We’ve got three big finals left and we’ll give our best to win La Liga. It was very important to keep winning and another clean sheet gives us confidence, the whole team deserves credit,” explained Varane.

Coach Zinedine Zidane was forced to use the team’s depth against Alaves as Ramos, Carvajal and Marcelo all had to miss the game.

“We have a very strong and good group full of talented players. As the coach always says, we’ll use every player. We have the confidence of our coach and we work together trying to be solid. It wasn’t our best game today but we keep going,” said the defender.

The Barcelona media and even FC Barcelona’s president have talked about VAR recently, suggesting that those decisions were always going in Madrid’s favor. Varane wanted to support his club against this claim.

“The noise from the outside doesn’t bother us, we’re focused in winning our games. VAR is there and there are controversial plays in football, but we don’t control it, we control the effort and the attitude from each and every one of our players,” he explained.

It’s been a busy schedule for Real Madrid but Varane revealed that his teammates are very committed and engaged to keep this winning streak alive.

“We’re playing many games and we need the whole team, every player is engaged and they know what our goal is. We’ll keep this good form going so that we can give our best on the field in the three games left on our schedule,” concluded Varane.
