Zinedine Zidane crossed another landmark milestone with Real Madrid in the team’s latest league victory as the team has now scored over 500 goals in all the matches he has overseen since he first took over as head coach in 2015-16. The French Real Madrid legend is leaving an indelible mark in the Spanish capital and this remarkable accomplishment just serves to further highlight the force that he has been as a manager.

The peak of Real Madrid’s goalscoring and perhaps, footballing performance, was in 2016-17 when the team amassed 173 goals. 2015-16 and 2018-19 were partial seasons for the manager which is why they don’t measure up to the others. 2019-20 is ongoing but the team is nearing 100 goals already.

In terms of where the goals occurred, the majority of them were scored at the Santiago Bernabeu but not by a wide margin. There is relative parity between the club’s production at home compared to away but without doubt the former seems to be a more conducive ground. Real Madrid have scored 25 goals in neutral grounds for occasions such as the club world club or Champions League finals. This signifies just how prominently Zidane has featured in important matches during his tenure.

By nature of the number of games played, La Liga is the competition in which the team have scored most of their goals. After that, it’s the Champions League where Real Madrid rewrote history with boundary pushing achievements including the three peat which remains the pinnacle of Zidane’s mountain of glory.

To no surprise, Ronaldo has scored the most goals and accumulated the most combined goals and assists under Zidane. The Portuguese operated at a generational level during his time at the club and helped lead the Zizou revolution. Benzema who assumed the role of being the primary attacker has scored the second most goals and assisted the most. The rest of the top ten is littered with staples in the Zidane era from cornerstones such as Ramos, Kroos and Marcelo to protagonists including Isco, Asensio and Vazquez.
