Dimitar Berbatov, the former Manchester United and Tottenham striker, now ambassador of BetFair had nothing but praise when talking about the work Zinedine Zidane has done as manager of Real Madrid.

“Zidane deserves a statue at the door of the Bernabéu because of what he has achieved with the return of the competition — it is amazing! I love it, the guy has an almost divine aura. He was top as a player and now he is still the same as coach,” Berbatov emphasized.

“Let’s not forget that this season started with the team not doing very well and people wondering if Zidane should even continue, some were wondering if it had been a mistake to bring him back — he must be cracking up with laughter now.”

“Zidane is a coach at the zenith of world football and deserves recognition. Not everyone can be a coach for Real Madrid and Barcelona. You have to know how to manage a locker room like this, players can become your friend, but the players also know who is the boss,” he remarked.

From a 7-2 loss to Atletico Madrid in the preseason to now being on the verge of the La Liga title after winning nine straight matches, Zidane has certainly won over many doubters. Berbatov’s statements echo the feeling of many Madridista’s — Zidane is simply a legend.
