Karim Benzema has been named La Liga’s Best Player of the Month of June and received the award this Thursday. Benzema played five games in June, scoring three goals and delivering one assist while leading Real Madrid to their impressive 10-game winning streak which secured the 34th Liga title for Los Blancos.
The French attacker is just two goals behind Barcelona’s Lionel Messi for La Liga’s overall leading scorer, but with just one game until the end of the season it doesn’t look likely that he will finish ahead of the Argentinian attacker, especially considering that Real Madrid have nothing to play for and that Zidane will likely make some rotations after what has been a busy schedule. That would allow him to keep his players fresh for the return leg against Manchester City.
Benzema has arguably been the team’s Most Valuable Player this campaign and his performances during the 2018-2019 season were also brilliant.
The French striker embraced a new role as the leader of Real Madrid’s offensive line after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, proving he’s quite simply one of the best strikers to ever wear Real Madrid’s uniform.
