Fran Garcia was an undisputed starter at left back for Raul Gonzalez and the Real Madrid Castilla team in the Segunda B this past season. The soon to be 21-year-old defender is ready to make the next step after playing 27 games for Castilla. The player was a favorite of Managing Madrid’s Castilla Corner and drew rave reviews all season long. With two years left on his contract, Madrid may look to sell with a buy-back clause or loan out in order to retain his rights should he continue his growth in La Liga.
It appears Osasuna, who will be in La Liga again next season, have identified the fullback as a potential replacement for Pervis Estupiñán and Toni Lato, both of whom have returned to their parent clubs after a season long loan. Fran Garcia is a similar player to Estupiñán — he’s tough and gritty, but also loves to get forward and use his agility to beat a man and whip in a quality cross.
Given the plethora of talent at the left back position — Marcelo, Mendy, Reguilon, and the emergence of Miguel Gutierrez — it would make sense for Fran Garcia to look elsewhere for minutes.
