Real Madrid midfelder Toni Kroos talked to the Lauschangriff Endlich was mit Sport Podcast and delivered some interesting quotes about his teammate Gareth Bale, who continues to be on the transfer block after almost leaving the club a year ago.
“There’s no way to stop the situation from not being satisfactory to all parts involved. He definitely wasn’t signed to play the minutes he’s playing now. I think he wanted to leave last summer and the club accepted at first and then nothing happened. I don’t know if he’s still a bit angry because of that, it’s a difficult situation,” said Kroos.
It’s strange seeing a player talking this clearly about a transfer business involving a teammate who is still on the roster. Still, what Kroos said during his interview was reported many times in the press, so it’s not a big surprise.
The midfielder wanted to explain that it’s not a very important deal, though.
“It’s certainly not as big a deal as it looks, everything is fine in the team. I know Bale from six years ago and we won some very big things together,” added Kroos.
Real Madrid will try to sell Bale this summer but the Welshman wants to stay in the Spanish capital until the end of his contract, as his agent Jonathan Barnett has said many times in the past.
