Real Madrid completed their first training session on Monday in preparation for the Champions League second-leg match against Manchester City on August 7.
According to the press release, the champions exercised before dividing into two seperate groups to practice match strategies, such as pressing and possession. The squad also got in some minor match simulations.
After finishing the La Liga season as Spanish champions, Real now have set their focus to preparing for a crucial European match in which they trail 2-1. It will be especially difficult given Sergio Ramos, who has been one of the largest parts of Real’s success this season, will be serving suspension.
It was also announced earlier on Tuesday that Mariano has tested positive for COVID-19. This puts his status in question for the Round of 16 match as he is now quarantining and recovering from the virus.
This training session signals more football being played soon to officially close out the 2019-20 season in Europe. With La Liga being crowned, we will soon see Real Madrid back in a competition they know very well.
