Real Madrid’s win over Getafe on Thursday night made it a sixth win in a row since the restart of LaLiga and Zinedine Zidane was delighted with the result, one which puts Los Blancos four points ahead of Barcelona. The coach made sure to point out in his post-match press conference that was his team are doing isn’t easy.
He said: “Each match is tough to win. It’s not easy what we’re doing and you can’t achieve success without suffering. I think we’re working well, but the most important thing is the physical condition of the players. They’re all committed. They all defend well. We logically lack a bit of freshness, but the team is very solid and we need to continue like this. There’s still a long way to go.”
While most of the players are doing well physically, Raphaël Varane had to go off after suffering a ball to the face and feeling dizzy. On the French centre-back, Zidane said: “He’s not feeling great right now because of that blow. We couldn’t risk anything. He’s at home now and the doctor has examined him. It was a very strong blow and we’ll see what he has.”
