Sergio Ramos and Carvajal will miss Friday’s match against Alaves

Both are suspended after getting booked at San Mames.

Real Madrid will be without Dani Carvajal and Sergio Ramos when they host Alaves next Friday. Both defenders saw their fifth yellow card during Sunday’s game against Athletic Bilbao and therefore will be suspended for Friday.

That leaves Real Madrid in a tough spot, given that they won’t have a pure right-back available if Militao replaces Ramos in the center of the team’s defensive line. Furthermore, Nacho is still injured.

All things considered, Zidane has two different options to choose from. Lucas Vazquez could play as a right-back because of his work rate. His other option would be Mendy, who has played some minutes in that spot this season even though he’s left-footed. That would force Zidane to start Marcelo on the left.

It’s a tricky situation for Zidane and his coaching staff but Real Madrid should still have the tools to beat Alaves even without Carvajal and Ramos in the starting lineup.
