Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane rejoined the squad in training this Tuesday and will be available when Los Blancos host Alaves next Friday. The French center-back missed last Sunday’s visit to Athletic Bilbao after being forced to leave the previous game against Getafe.
This is great news for Real Madrid because both Carvajal and Sergio Ramos will miss Friday’s home match with a suspension, so Varane will be needed. He will play alongside Militao in the center of Madrid’s defensive line, with either Mendy or Lucas Vazquez replacing Carvajal in the right flank of the defense.
Varane has been a great cornerstone for Madrid’s defense all season long and his return, while expected, will give the team a huge boost of confidence now that they just have to take care of business to win the 2019-2020 La Liga title. Madrid have a four-point lead over Barcelona with only four games to go until the end of the season.
