Real Madrid legend Marcelo Viera reviewed his first years in the club and explained that the plan from Madrid was to send him on a loan deal so that he could get minutes and develop the right way. Needless to say, Marcelo never left and still became arguably the best left-back in club history alongside Roberto Carlos.

“I think in life you have to take advantage of your chances. I got here when I was 18 years old, my team [Real Madrid] wanted to send me on loan but I just refused. I knew a time would come for me to become an important player for the club. You just have to hold on to the opportunities you have,” explained Marcelo.

Marcelo has clearly entered his decline as a player and is quite probably on his last years in the club. While he struggled a lot during his first few seasons, his contribution during the last decade should not be overlooked, so he should definitely be considered a club legend.
