Thibaut Courtois, Sergio Ramos, Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema made UEFA’s Team of the Year for La Liga alongside coach Zinedine Zidane, who was named the best coach of the season as well. The rest of the team is completed by Jesús Navas, Diego Carlos, Yuri, Cazorla, Messi and Gerard Moreno.

All five of those Real Madrid players in this Team of the Year were quite clearly Madrid’s best players all season long. In the end, Courtois won the Zamora Award after completing one of the best seasons of his career, Ramos scored penalty after penalty while also performing well defensively, Casemiro and Kroos dominated Madrid’s midfield and Benzema was the team leading scorer.

Coach Zinedine Zidane deserves a lot of credit as well. This was his first full season after his return to Real Madrid and he built a winning team without Cristiano Ronaldo while surviving the two major injuries for star Eden Hazard, who was expected to lead the team offensively. Zidane chose to implement a defensive-minded team, which might not have been very exciting to watch but in the end brought trophies to the club.

Ultimately, these five players deserved to be named in the Team of the Year so Real Madrid will be hoping to see more of the same when the 2020-2021 Liga season starts in September.
