Real Madrid have officially confirmed the departure of French goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, who spent the 2019-2020 season in the Spanish capital on a loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain.

Real Madrid C. F. confirms it has brought Alphonse Areola’s loan spell to an end.

The club would like to thank Areola for his dedication, professionalism and exemplary conduct this season and wishes him the best of luck in this new chapter.

Real Madrid also thanks PSG for the chance to have had Alphonse Areola as part of our squad.

Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin will be Thibaut Courtois’ replacement next season after his good performances for Oviedo.

Areola is expected to join a Premier League club this summer, according to reports from the press. He was an important and solid goalkeeper early in the season, given that Courtois was forced to miss some games due to injury. Areola has probably earned the right to be a starter even if it’s in a smaller club.
