Real Madrid may not be making any signings this summer, but they will count on the loanees. Martin Odegaard is now expected to return for the 2020-2021 season and Dani Ceballos may follow suit. According to a report from Sergio Santos of AS, the elimination to Manchester City, and the lack of a response from the team with the season on the line, has encouraged the club to freshen up the squad. The vision in regard to the loanee’s has changed, especially in regard to Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos - both are now expected to stay.

Dani Ceballos strong end to the season was the catalyst behind the move. Those at the highest level of the club believe Ceballos has the quality to play for Real Madrid and has taken a step up in all aspects of his game since his year abroad with Arsenal. The Spaniard was one of the crucial cogs in Arteta’s new system as he led them to victory over Manchester City and Chelsea in the FA Cup.

Zidane and the player will have the final call on his return. Ceballos would be open to a return to his dream club, as his ultimate goal is to be successful with Real Madrid, but would want guarantees over his role ahead of the 2021 European Championships and the summer Olympic games.
