According to Marca, Castilla midfielder Martín Calderón will be joining Primeira Liga club Paços de Ferreira on loan for next season.

His loan deal includes an option for Paços to buy half of the rights to his €500,000 contract as well.

Calderón spent the season with Castilla. He only made around 13 appearances under Raúl and was rather disappointing in his limited time. The season prior, he was promoted from Juvenil A to Castilla and made over 25 appearances showing promise.

It was clear that the reduced game time meant Calderón would likely be going on loan away from Castilla next season. A move to the first division of Portuguese football is a good way for the 21-year-old to gain some confidence and work on his skills abroad.

Calderón joined La Fábrica back in 2013. Since then he has worked his way up from the U16 team to the top level of youth football at Real Madrid. Now he gets to show a bit of what he’s learned and hopefully improve as well.
