Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon hasn’t gone unnoticed after his brilliant performances for Sevilla during his loan deal. Madrid are interested in selling the player for around €25 million and Reguilon has received interested from Chelsea, Arsenal and Napoli in recent weeks. Sevilla could also have an option to keep the young defender for another season if Madrid decide to extend his loan deal, but right now Chelsea and Arsenal have the edge to sign Reguilon on a regular transfer, according to a report from AS.
However, Real Madrid could try to include an option to buy Reguilon back in case they need him in the future, per that same report. Considering that Marcelo is entering the final year of his contract, Los Blancos could bring him back in the near future if he manages to make an impact in the Premier League as well.
It would make a lot of sense to keep some control over Reguilon’s future after seeing how impressive he’s been this season, but ultimately it looks like Real Madrid are trying to cash in some money while they can after what’s been a tough year for the club from a financial standpoint due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
While it would be good business to include that buyback option, it will be interesting to see how expensive that one is, as elite clubs are usually reluctant to complete those kinds of deals.
