Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has an interesting decision ahead of him. The French coach will have to name his backup right-back before the end of the transfer window and Alvaro Odriozola and Lucas Vazquez are the two candidates for the spot —according to MARCA—, with Dani Carvajal being the undisputed starter.
While the decision should be a fairly easy one given that Vazquez isn’t a pure right-back, Zidane has always been a huge fan of the Spanish player and Odriozola has had a tough second half of the season with Bayern. Still, make no mistake. Real Madrid will most likely try to find a new club for Lucas Vazquez, which would give Odriozola another chance to earn his spot in the roster.
In fact, a report from Radio MARCA mentioned that Napoli are interested in Vazquez to replace former Real Madrid winger Jose Callejon. If that’s the case, expect Madrid to accept their offer and part ways with Vazquez, who will likely accept his fate knowing that he has many players ahead of him in the current depth chart.
