Portuguese club Benfica are interested in the signing of Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez, according to a report from newspaper A Bola. It’s been a while since Nacho’s last season as a relevant player for Madrid and that’s the reason why Los Blancos could make him available for €10 million, per that same report.
Nacho is Madrid’s fourth center-back behind Ramos, Varane and Militao in the depth chart and he only featured in 10 games last season. All things considered, Real Madrid could very well decide to sell him if Benfica offer that kind of money, even more so considering that his ability to play as a fullback won’t be needed with Odriozola and Marcelo backing up Carvajal and Mendy respectively.
Real Madrid are looking to cash in some money this summer after the Coronavirus pandemic, and while Nacho wasn’t expected to be on the transfer block, €10 million for the fourth center back on your roster are probably tough to reject.
