Since his loan from Real Madrid was announced last week, Villarreal have seen their following on social media spike.
In the 24 hours after the announcement, they gained 30,000 followers between Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
“On a normal day we have 700,000 impressions on social media, but we had 8,249,866 on the day of the signing,” a member of staff at Villarreal has explained.
