Real Madrid will focus on sales and not signings in the first transfer window after the Coronavirus pandemic. Selling players will be the club’s priority this summer, but Madrid are yet to receive offers for Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez, two men who are not in coach Zinedine Zidane’s plans for the future. At least, that’s what a report published this Friday on MARCA indicates.
Real Madrid spend around €40 million/year on Bale and James’ salaries, so getting rid of their contracts is a priority in this current context, even more so if they are not going to be relevant players for Zidane.
While Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has reiterated the player’s desire to stay in Madrid no matter his role, James’ situation should and could be different. His value in the market might be higher, but it will be tough for other teams to consider his signing in this current market, given his salary.
All things considered, it looks like it won’t be easy for Madrid to find their way out of this situation with these two players.
