Stade Rennais midfielder Eduardo Camavinga will stay in his club for the 2020-2021 season. The midfielder talked to Telefoot and confirmed that he is not entertaining offers to leave Stade Rennais this summer.
“I have two years left in my contract, I will be a Stade Rennais player next season,” said Camavinga.
The midfielder was rumored to be on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar for this summer but it now seems that he will wait an extra year and then make a decision about his future in the summer of 2021.
“I’m not paying attention to transfer rumors. They don’t mean anything to me. That’s football, there are things which are certain and other things that aren’t,” he added.
Real Madrid were reportedly close to completing the signing of Camavinga before the Coronavirus pandemic hit Europe. Then, Los Blancos decided to wait and save some much needed money in this current context. However, Camavinga’s decision to stay in Stade Rennais will give Real Madrid another chance of signing the talented midfielder a year from now. Furthermore, if Camavinga decides not to sign a contract extension, Stade Rennais will be somewhat forced to accept a lower offer, given that the player could be a free agent in 2022.
Camavinga will play Champions League football with Stade Rennais next season. If he can perform at that level and Real Madrid’s financial situation improves, expect Los Blancos to go after the French midfielder in the summer of 2021.
