Everton are interested in the permanent transfer of James Rodriguez according to a report from The Telegraph.
It is clear that the interest from the English side is a petition of the manager, Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian worked with James Rodriguez while at Real Madrid during the 2014-2015 season. James produced his best ever season in a white shirt under Carlo’s tutelage.
They were reunited again during Carlo’s brief spell as Bayern Munich manager when he again made the Colombian a direct request to the German club’s hierarchy. Even when Carlo Ancelotti was manager of Napoli, he attempted to bring James to the club. The Italian has the utmost faith in the playmaker and would make him a crucial cog in Everton’s attack.
Given that James’ contract expires in a year and his lack of involvement in Zidane’s squad, Real Madrid would be willing to part with the playmaker on the cheap. It would be more important for Los Merengues to free themselves of James’ wages rather than to look to acquire a hefty transfer fee. Not many teams can afford the Colombian thus Everton may be the perfect club for all involved in the deal.
