Real Madrid and Sevilla have reached a €15 million agreement for midfielder Oscar Rodriguez, according to a report from COPE journalist Melchor Ruiz. Real Madrid will keep an option to match any future offer for Oscar and also earn a 25% of the fee for the future.
Oscar completed brilliant performances for Leganes on loan last season and increased his value drastically. He reportedly received interest from clubs like Villarreal or Milan but Sevilla emerged as the favorites to sign him after Ever Banega’s departure from the reigning UEFA Europa League champions.
Real Madrid thought about keeping an option to bring Oscar back but ultimately decided to sell the midfielder for these €15 million, which is decent business in the current financial context. If he keeps performing that well for Sevilla, it will be interesting to see if Madrid decide to match any offer the Andalusian club get for Oscar, similarly to what they did with Mariano.
Expect an official announcement from both clubs soon.
