Real Madrid wonder kid Rodrygo Goes got a surprising chance to feature in the team’s starting lineup for the visit to Manchester City, which ended in a 2-1 loss and with Los Blancos out of the Champions League. Rodrygo talked to the press after the game and wanted to support teammate Raphael Varane, who made two big mistakes that led up to City’s two goals.
“This is something that happens sometimes, it’s a pity but he’s a great player and I don’t think this will stain his legacy in Real Madrid,” said Rodrygo about Varane’s performance.
Real Madrid completed a fairly mediocre performance and were quite simply outplayed by Guardiola’s side. Rodrygo was asked about it.
“I’m sad, but we fought until the very end. We struggled early on because they’re a great team and they’re very strong here, I think we could’ve done more throughout the entire game. These things happen, they also deserve to go through,” said Rodrygo, who concluded the interview by giving Real Madrid’s season “a 9.”
