When there is news surrounding Gareth Bale, you can almost guarantee a comment from Jonathan Barnett will closely follow. After reports have indicated that Real Madrid and Tottenham are working on a proposal to bring Gareth Bale back to White Hart Lane, Barnett was quick to confirm the validity of those rumors.
In a comment to BBC Sport Wales, Barnett stated that Gareth still has great affection for Tottenham. “Gareth still loves Spurs. We are talking - Spurs, Real Madrid, and the player’s camp. It is where he wants to be,” the agent affirmed.
It seems a deal is on the cards and may be imminent. Mourinho will be adding Gareth Bale to his attacking trident which will likely be made up of Harry Kane, Son, and Bale himself — a front three with potential to carry out Mourinho’s lethal counter-attacking scheme. Real Madrid may still end up paying a portion of Bale’s wages, but there could be up to €10 million annual savings even with just 50% of his salary gone.
Real Madrid and Tottenham have done business in the past with the likes of Luka Modric, Rafael Van der Vaart, and of course with Gareth Bale. The two clubs have a good working relationship and with Mourinho as manager, there is a greater connection and greater likelihood that both the Reguilon and Bale deals go through.
