Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard has been training with the squad for the last two days and appears ready to make the team’s squad list for the season opener against Real Sociedad, which will be played on Sunday at 9pm CEST.
Odegaard has spent most of the summer recovering from the knee injury he picked up during the last third of last season with Real Sociedad. While he didn’t require surgery to heal that injury and he kept playing for the Basque side, Odegaard was clearly bothered from a physical standpoint and couldn’t replicate the success he had early in the season.
Now, it looks like his knee injury is a thing of the past. Madrid will undoubtedly stay patient with his knee and Odegaard will almost certainly be coming off the bench for the majority of the season, so he will have the ability to be cautious and make sure that his knee is 100% right.
Still, Odegaard will surely be hoping to get some minutes during the first games of the season, even more so now that both Hazard and Asensio are not ready to start. Odegaard’s presence on the right wing would give Madrid’s offense more creativity and it would be interesting to see if coach Zinedine Zidane is considering giving the Norwegian talent relevant minutes.
