A lengthy report published by ABC today goes into detail about the relationship between Gareth Bale, Zinedine Zidane, and the rest of the team.
The report states that Zidane has asked the club to get rid of Bale in any possible way. While Zidane himself is cognizant of the fact that finding any club to pay Bale’s salary is extremely (to put it mildly) difficult, the French manager is also in a position where his alternative route may be to banish Bale to the sidelines for the entirety of the 2020 - 2021 season while the Welshman receives his salary without playing.
Part of Zidane’s logic behind this is that Bale himself has reached a level where his apathy is starting to wear on the squad, and other players have found it difficult to be around Bale. ABC’s report states: “We will not give names, but some players do not hide the fact that it is difficult to work when there is nothing to do with another teammate and do not pay attention to anything.”
Per the report, Bale would also be fine if Zidane told him he won’t be playing, as the Welshman does not see football as a passion, and would be happy to sit out and receive his full salary while doing other things.
SER reported a confirmation that Bale would be more than happy in this scenario.
Messy stuff.
