Former Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has been offered to Real Madrid via a “well-reputed agent,” according to a report published today on MARCA. His name was on the table before Sunday’s match against Real Sociedad and right now it seems that Madrid are reluctant to give Cavani the €7 million/year contract he wants, per that same report.

Cavani is a free agent after his deal with PSG expired this summer, so whoever wants to sign him wouldn’t need to pay any kind of transfer fee, which is a big advantage given the circumstances.

The Uruguayan striker is 33 years old and was rumored to be in Madrid’s shortlist before he joined PSG. He’s not in his prime anymore yet he could still be a valuable asset for the team given the current lack of scoring punch, so his name is apparently being considered.

If Cavani is willing to sign a smaller contract than €7 million/year, Madrid could very well try to sign him. That would likely mean that Luka Jovic could leave the club on a loan deal. Still, this is an unlikely move with just two weeks to go before the deadline.
