Real Madrid’s scoring struggles became apparent during Sunday’s 0-0 draw against Real Sociedad. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois talked to Movistar+ after the game and explained that he thinks the team will soon score goals.
“We’re happy with the structure of the team on the field, we didn’t concede many chances. Our problem was to score and that final pass that today wasn’t there. We didn’t have many chances but we created some danger. We have scoring ability, I see that in training and also in the friendly we played against Getafe, but sometimes it doesn’t work. Real Sociedad are a good team, we have scoring punch and the goal will come,” said Courtois.
The Belgian goalkeeper saved a big chance for Real Sociedad to get the lead and was optimistic about the outcome of the game.
“We shouldn’t forget that Real Sociedad had a longer pre-season. This was only the second game and we played with intensity and pace, playing good football. We can be happy about the game, only with the exception that we lacked that goal. If we don’t score many goals we have to keep it balanced and not concede a goal, because our own will come with the players we have. Karim scores them, today they didn’t come but it’s important to keep a clean sheet and play the way we’re playing since after the pandemic,” concluded Courtois.
Real Madrid will face Betis this upcoming Saturday in what will be their second game of the season.
