Real Madrid and AS Roma are currently negotiating a deal for striker Borja Mayoral, whose contract with Los Blancos expires in June 2021. That’s according to Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio.

No transfer fee is mentioned in Di Marzio’s report but Real Madrid were apparently looking for a €20 million deal. Given the current circumstances and Mayoral’s contract situation with Real Madrid, it seems unlikely that Madrid are able to find such a deal, so it seems that they could accept a smaller fee if they keep an option to bring Mayoral back or even a percentage of his rights.
Reports from the Spanish press suggested that coach Zinedine Zidane was keen on keeping Mayoral as Benzema’s backup, but it now seems that the club is still willing to part ways with him, which would allow Luka Jovic to get more minutes down the road.
All in all, it seems that both Mayoral and Mariano Diaz are on Madrid’s transfer block, but it will be interesting to see if they can actually find them new clubs.
