Real Madrid striker Borja Mayoral is close to joining AS Roma on a transfer expected to be around €10 million, according to a report published on Italian sportspaper Il Corriere Dello Sport.

While Madrid appeared to be asking for around €20 million for the transfer of Mayoral, the fact that his deal with Los Blancos expires in just one year will ultimately force Madrid to accept a smaller fee, per that same report.

Mayoral is not in coach Zinedine Zidane’s plans for the upcoming season and will have to leave the club if he wants to play relevant minutes. However, this deal with Roma is not done just yet as Mayoral made Real Madrid’s squad list for Saturday’s away match against Betis.

Both clubs will have to reach a final agreement for the transfer of the Spanish striker in the next few weeks, given that the transfer window closes on October 4th.
