Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde talked to Movistar+ after his brilliant performance in Madrid’s 2-3 victory against Betis this Saturday. Valverde revealed why he struggled after the Coronavirus pandemic.

“I struggled coming back, I accept it and I’m my first critic. I didn’t do the things a Real Madrid player is supposed to do,” said Fede about his form after the Coronavirus pandemic.

Valverde was a crucial player for Real Madrid and coach Zinedine Zidane before the quarantine but his performances during those last 12 games of the season after the break were simply not good enough. Last night, he proved that he can still make an impact.

“We started the game very well but then we dropped back too much and the opposition got encouraged and started playing better. Our coach told us to turn things around when we got at halftime,” concluded Valverde.

The Uruguayan midfielder has the potential and the skillset to be a key player for Real Madrid this season, so he will have to make sure that he’s 100% ready to play and contribute.
