Kai Havertz, young German star who broke out at Bayer Leverkusen, was going to be a Real Madrid player, and had rejected offers from other clubs in order to land at the Spanish capital where his heart was. That is, until the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and Real Madrid backed off.

This is all according to a report from Marca published today.

The report indicates that Havertz couldn’t wait any longer for Real Madrid to swoop in, and is now close to striking a deal with Chelsea.

Real Madrid fans who tune into tonight’s UEFA Nations League game between Spain and Germany may get a chance to see Havertz play against Spain, along with Toni Kroos, Sergio Reguilon, Sergio Ramos, and Dani Carvajal who will also feature in that game.
