Real Madrid managed to squeak out of Valdebebas with a 1-0 victory over Real Valladolid. Luka Jovic was handed his second start in a row in a two-man strike force with Karim Benzema. The Serbian had three shots and a total xG of 0.56 in this match. He got into the right positions and came close to scoring on a few occasions. Butragueno noted the performance of Jovic and the team as a whole when talking to the press after the match.

“Jovic’s header deserved a goal,” Butragueno began. “He was very good. The goals will come, we are calm”.

The director was then asked about the Belgian pair of Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard. “Courtois was sensational. Hazard’s injury is a big shame because he is fundamental,” he concluded.

It’s unclear what the future holds for Luka Jovic after rumors have ramped up in recent days regarding a potential loan move away from the club. With a second consecutive start, it would be strange to see him depart.
