Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde has talked to Realmadrid.com about the team’s ongoing pre-season, which started this past Monday as the team tries to prepare for the 2020-2021 season opener against Real Sociedad on September 20th.
“This first week has gone very well, we’re all very excited and happy, I’m proud of wearing this shirt for another season and we’re all focused on our targets ahead so that we can aim for the top,” said Fede.
The midfielder is coming off what was quite clearly his first season in elite football. Valverde made an impact for Real Madrid and even became a key starter for Zinedine Zidane before the Coronavirus pandemic.
“I feel very well and happy, as I said it makes me proud to wear this shirt once again, it gives me extra motivation to keep working and developing as a player and also as a person to keep representing Real Madrid in the best possible way,” he added.
Valverde was also asked about the team’s goals for the upcoming season, which will be an unusual one given the lack of the signings due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Madrid had to adjust their salaries and made selling some players a priority, which could affect the team’s performances. Still, Valverde has faith on his team.
“We’ll go after every single trophy as we always do. As the coach and the team always say, we have the responsibility to at least aim for that goal and we’ll do just that,” he concluded.
