It’s official, Real Madrid have sold midfielder James Rodriguez to Everton in a deal that’s reportedly worth around €25 million.

James joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2014 after his brilliant performances for Colombia in the FIFA World Cup. He completed an extraordinary debut season for the club but never managed to keep his status as an undisputed starter after that campaign. Two years later, he joined Bayern on a two-season loan deal and then spent last year on the bench for Madrid.

James will reunite with former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, who also coached him at Bayern for a season. There, James will have the opportunity to resurrect his career with a manager who always believed in him.

“I am really, really happy to be at this great club, a club with so much history, and here with a manager who knows me really well,” said James to the Everton website.

James signs a two-year contract with an option for an additional season.
