Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano were going to play a friendly match at Valdebebas this Wednesday but the game has been cancelled because a Rayo player is still awaiting the results of a Covid test, according to reports on the Spanish press.

This is just basically a precautionary measure from both teams to avoid risks. The player has not tested positive but both sides agreed on cancelling the game, which was going to happen behind closed doors and without members of the press covering it.

Real Madrid will face Getafe on those same conditions in what will be their only pre-season friendly before their season opener against Real Sociedad on September 20th. It’s worth mentioning that La Liga kicks off this upcoming weekend but not for Madrid or Getafe as they were involved in European competition, so their first match will take place a week later instead.

The match against Getafe will be played next Tuesday as both teams try to get ready for what’s going to be a long season ahead.
