Jagoba Arrasate: We Have Made Real Madrid Uncomfortable

Osasuna manager Jagoba Arrasate spoke to the press after his side came away with an impressive point — a 0-0 draw — against Real Madrid on Saturday.

Arrasate, who deviated slightly from a nominal 4-4-2 high press in favour of going into a 4-5-1 block, was asked by our very own Kiyan Sobhani about his team’s defensive success tonight. The question was posed about Real Madrid’s comfort bringing the ball high up the field and in good pockets of space, but how they weren’t able to do damage beyond that.

“Today we were missing legs to go to the rival field without Lucas, without Darko, without Javi, who was exhausted after two games,” Arrasate said. “And we had a more retracted game, low block; I think the team has done a very, very good job. In the end it is true that we have opened up, and just as they can score a goal, we could engage in some transition attacks. But in general I am very happy with everyone’s work.“
