Real Madrid will be without right-back Dani Carvajal when they take on Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Supercup Semifinal this next Thursday. Carvajal picked up a small muscle injury during the match against Celta and missed the trip to face Osasuna last Saturday.
Los Blancos are already in Malaga, the town which will host the Spanish Supercup this season, and club sources told both AS and MARCA that Carvajal will not travel to meet with the team ahead of the Semifinal.
Still, Carvajal could potentially feature in the Final if Los Blancos manage to beat Athletic and advance to the decisive game, given that his injury isn’t that serious. In fact, Madrid didn’t publish an injury report about Carvajal, who is the undisputed starter at the right side of the defensive line.
Without him, Lucas Vazquez will be expected to start in that position, just like he did against Osasuna last Saturday.
