It hasn’t been an easy road for Mesut Özil since he left Real Madrid to join Arsenal more than 7 years ago. The attacking midfielder has been out of Arsenal’s rotation for quite some time and there are rumors suggesting that he could leave the London-based club on a loan deal to the Turkish league.
This Monday, Özil answered some questions on his Twitter account and one of them was about the Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Leo Messi debate. Here’s what Özil had to say.
Messi has proven himself to be one of the best ever in Spain, but Ronaldo was always the best in every country he’s played in! https://t.co/OfsWqNLedM

Özil is biased here as he was Ronaldo’s teammate for three successful seasons, also playing arguably the best football of his career alongside the Portuguese legend.
Still, Özil has a point here, as Ronaldo managed to be the best player in three different leagues while Messi has never left Barcelona. One thing is certain though, these two players coexisted and made this era and the Real Madrid-Barcelona rivalry a great one to watch.
