Real Madrid defender Alvaro Odriozola has decided to stay at the club this transfer window, according to a report published on AS this Monday. Odriozola received interest to join other clubs like Athletic Bilbao, Fiorentina or Borussia Dortmund on a loan deal but has decided to stay in the Spanish capital hoping to get more minutes later this season. He’s never played relevant minutes since joining the club two years ago.
Odriozola will likely start for Real Madrid when Los Blancos begin their quest for the Copa del Rey title against Alcoyano this Wedneday. There, the Spanish defender will try to prove his worth and show coach Zinedine Zidane that he’s reliable enough to replace Carvajal when he needs to get some rest or is not available.
If Odriozola can’t improve his situation during this second half of the season, he could try to part ways with Madrid in order to be a relevant player elsewhere.
