Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard has requested a loan deal to leave the club this transfer window, according to a report from MARCA. Odegaard believes he needs to play more minutes and wants to make an impact elsewhere in order to keep developing and growing as a player, per that same report.
Odegaard has only played 367 minutes for Madrid this season, and while he’s had some injuries here and there, it’s also true that he’s not been as relevant as he probably expected when he’s been available.
Real Madrid decided to bring back Odegaard last summer even though there was an additional year included on their loan deal with Real Sociedad. Odegaard was one of the best midfielders in La Liga just last season.
No clubs are mentioned in MARCA’s report, but a potential return to Real Sociedad for the second half of the season makes sense for all parts involved.
