Martin Odegaard is set to leave Real Madrid to play for Arsenal on a loan deal which will expire at the end of the current 2020-2021 season, according to reports published on AS and El Diario Vasco. Odegaard also received interest from Real Sociedad but ultimately decided to play in the Premier League these next few months, per those same reports.
Odegaard was one of the best midfielders in La Liga just last season but he’s not had the opportunity to play relevant minutes on a consistent basis for Real Madrid. That’s why the midfielder himself asked the club to let him go on a loan deal this past week.
The young midfielder will be hoping to get a prominent role under coach Mikel Arteta so that he can make his return to the Spanish capital with more experience and minutes under his belt. It will be interesting to see if he can succeed in the Premier League, given how physical the British competition is.
The deal could become official imminently, according to the reports mentioned above.
