Real Madrid visit Alaves, who are fighting to avoid relegation after a poor start to the 2020-2021 season. Los Blancos have played mediocre football for their past three games, drawing against Osasuna and losing against Athletic Bilbao and Alcoyano in disappointing fashion.

Coach Zinedine Zidane will not be with the team after testing positive for Covid-19 on Friday. His assistant Davide Bettoni will be in charge of the squad, although it’s likely that Zidane and Bettoni communicate in some way in order to decide the substitutions.

Madrid will be without Carvajal and Sergio Ramos, so they will have to rely on Lucas Vazquez and Militao defensively. Asensio and Hazard will be expected to start alongside Karim Benzema upfront as Madrid try to show some encouraging signs offensively, which hasn’t happened all that often this season.

Los Blancos need as many points as they can get given how consistent Atletico de Madrid have been this season.
