Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema talked to the press after the team’s 1-4 win against Alaves in which he scored two goals. Benzema explained why he believes Madrid still have the opportunity to win the 2020-2021 Liga title even if Atletico de Madrid are currently leading the table by seven points with a game still at hand.
“We’re only paying attention to what we do, there’s still a long way to go in La Liga,” he said when asked about the competition from other teams in the table.
For once, Madrid managed to convert their chances and scored four goals, which is a crucial improvement if Los Blancos truly want to compete for La Liga or the Champions League.
“We work every day in training, our passes, our crosses, our finishing ability. Today, we found a way to score, we’re back on the right track after what was a tough week for us,” explained the attacker.
Benzema also shared his thoughts about Eden Hazard, who scored his second goal of the season, the first after coming back from injury.
“He was a great player for Chelsea and now he has to write history for Real Madrid. I think he’s in good form and he will help us a lot,” concluded Benzema.
