Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez has tested positive for Covid-19, the club announced on their official website this Monday. Nacho will be away from the team until he tests negative for the virus.
Currently, this is Real Madrid’s second positive for Covid-19 after the club confirmed coach Zidane’s positive last week.
Considering that Sergio Ramos isn’t available yet, Eder Militao and Raphael Varane are Madrid’s only available central defenders. The two of them completed a solid performance against Alaves last weekend and will have to continue taking care of business in the next few weeks, given that it seems that Ramos will need more time before he can make his return from injury.
Nacho has been a relevant player for Real Madrid all season long but could ultimately lose his spot as the primary backup for Ramos and Varane if Militao keeps performing well now that he’s been given the chance to play consistent minutes.
