Real Madrid target Eduardo Camavinga has talked to the press ahead of Stade Rennais’ match against Olympique Marseille and revealed that he’s negotiating a potential contract extension with his current club. Camavinga’s deal expires in 2022 and he was expected to reject said extension in order to leave Stade Rennais either this upcoming summer or the next one.
“There are negotiations, conversations happening about my extension. If it happens, it happens. It’s you the reporters who want me to leave, but I’m 100% focused on my team, we’ll see what happens after,” said Camavinga when asked about his future.
Real Madrid are reportedly very interested in the signing of the young midfielder, although the rumors suggesting that they will try to complete the transfer next summer have cooled down due to the financial situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which will likely force Madrid to stay put in the market for a second straight summer.
If Camavinga ends up signing this extension, the clubs will be forced to spend more on his signing, giving that he would not leave as a free agent or one year before the end of his current deal.
