Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon, who Real Madrid have a buy-back option on in 2022, was caught breaching COVID-19 rules during the Christmas break, as he attended a party which other Tottenham teammates also attended.

A photo circulating on social media showed Reguilon, Erik Lamela, and Giovani lo Celso all together at a party.

All three of those players were omitted from today’s game against Leeds, where Tottenham won 3 - 0.

Tottenham released the following statement:

“We are extremely disappointed and strongly condemn this image showing some of our players with family and friends together at Christmas particularly as we know the sacrifices everybody around the country made to stay safe over the festive period,” read the Spurs statement.

Furthermore, Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho spoke about Sergio Reguilon, and expressed his disappointment.

“An amazing gift. Portuguese piglet which is amazing for Portuguese and Spanish, I gave him because I was told he was going to spend Christmas on his own,” Mourinho said of his gift to Mourinho earlier in December. “He was not alone as you can see.”
