In a coordinated effort, a number of Primera Iberdrola players simultaneously issued a statement on Saturday:

Translation:

As players of Primera Iberdrola who are concerned by the pandemic in this current situation, we understand health is the priority and communicate this:

After various and extensive meetings with the Real Federación Española de Fútbol to address the topic of the management of the Primera Iberdrola and due to not reaching a common agreement, we wanted to show the need to determine a more concrete protocol, with tests and results that are much more controlled and regulated unless there are limited and exceptional cases. We believe that it is of vital importance that the league has a protocol that protects us and above all allows us to continue our competition.

We are not searching for rapid solutions, but effective, fair, and just solutions for the cases that exist.

We have proposed this in various meetings and we propose it in this official communication:

- To prioritize the postponed matches of the first half of the season, as much as possible

- To play the matches only if both sides have at least the minimum required players available to play in the match

For this we ask for the help of the federation, responsible for the league, to modify the protocol as needed and guarantee that our competition can continue and avoid being an adulterated league full of uncertainty.

We want solutions. We want to play. We want women’s football.

Respectfully,

A Primera Iberdrola player

This statement comes off the back of a large number of games being cancelled and postponed due to COVID-19 cases, with unclear and absent communication about when these matches will be rescheduled.

The players deserve better.
